IN JANUARY-SEPTEMBER 2007, GROWTH OF GDP OF MOLDOVA MADE 3.3%.

In January-September 2007, growth of GDP of Moldova made 3,3% as compared to the same period of the previous year. Such data is cited by the National Bureau of Statistics. As it is noted, for 9 months of 2007, GDP of Moldova in current prices amounted to 40345.9 million MDL ($ 3567.3 million), and in compatible ones – to 35137.4 million MDL ($ 3106 million), respectively. For 2007, the government of Moldova projected GDP growth of 4% due to external shocks as increased prices for the Russian gas and the ban for the export of wines to Russia. Subsequently, the government and IMF have increased the forecast of GDP growth in 2007 up to 5%. But this summer the country was affected by severe drought. The government estimates that losses of agro-industrial complex of the country exceeded $ 1 billion that has affected pace of economic growth in the second half of 2007. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in the III quarter of 2007, GDP declined by 2, 9%. In time of the press conference devoted to results of 2007, the president Vladimir Voronin reminded that economic indicators of the first six months of this year have shown significant economic recovery. During the first half of 2007, GDP growth made 8%. According to him, if agricultural sector of the country showed no growth at all, total indicator of economic growth would make 8%. But catastrophic decline of more than 30% was registered in agricultural sector of the country. It should be noted that in 2008, Moldovan government predicts GDP growth of 7%.
