The experts of EBRD predict 5% growth of gdp of Moldova in 2007.
It is stated in the transition report of EBRD for 2007. It is marked that in 2006 economic growth of Moldova was slowed down and made only 4% in real expression. It was stipulated by the ban for the export of Moldavian wines and agricultural goods imposed by Russia and double increase of prices for the gas. In the first half-year 2007, growth of GDP of Moldova made 8 %. At the same time, it is expected, that strong drought of 2007 will affect agricultural output and processing industry, therefore rates of economic growth will decrease and growth of GDP in 2007 will make 5 %. As the experts of EBRD mark, the rise of prices for the gas and the ban for the export of wines and agricultural products to Russia have negatively affected Moldavian economy outlining its strong dependence on remittances and agricultural sector. Short-term prospect shows that growth of economy will be prevented by the bad crop of 2007 and difficulties with diversification of export markets. Experts of EBRD emphasize, that long-term prospects of economic growth of Moldova depend on substantial increase of labor productivity and further expansion of export capacities. They believe, that strengthening of independence and powers of supervising bodies of Moldova will improve business climate and stimulate appearance of new enterprises, development of competition as well as diversification of economy. According to the experts of EBRD, more effective use of advantages of Moldova will be promoted by deepening structural reorganization of the economy, especially perfection of control of quality in agriculture, diversification of export wine markets and reform in the power sector. For prevention of macroeconomic risks caused by the excessive dependence on small markets, experts of EBRD recommend Moldova reasonable combination of budgetary-tax, monetary- credit policy and diversification of export opportunities.
