The World Bank will allocate $10 million for Moldova for the implementation of the project of the high quality education in the rural area
As the InfoMarket news agency reports with reference to the WB Resident Office in Chisinau, $5 million will be allocated as a privileged credit (for 40 years with a 10-year grace period and 0.35% for servicing the credit), and $5 million. – as a grant. The project is assigned to help the RM government to rise the education level in the rural schools. According to Project Director Ann-Mary Gerna, More than 1000 rural schools will receive additional funds in the frame of the project and will be able to manage them in cooperation with the parents and the school community. It is planned to improve the general system of allocating budget resources for education, to increase the efficiency of their use not only in schools, but on the national and the local levels. The project envisages the actualization of the school programs, publishing new didactic materials and text-books, advanced training for the teachers. The project is assigned to reduce the progress between the pupils of the rural and urban schools and to facilitate the increase of the period of the stay at schools of the children from the families in the frames of the prolonged day program. The project is assigned for 4 years and it will be implemented from 2006 to May 2010.
